Weekly Activities
We run a number of weekly groups and activities for our young people on Sundays and during the week.
On Sunday mornings we spend some time in the main service with the whole church family and then we head up to the youth room. We have some drinks, biscuits and a ‘few’ sweets & spend time looking at God’s word and how it applies to our lives. We chat, pray and worship together as we grow in our relationship with God and each other.
We also have several ‘All Age’ services throughout the year where the whole service is designed with everyone in mind - from age 0-100! They usually happen around festive times of the year like Easter or Harvest.
On Sunday evenings we join in with the 6ix service 6-7.30pm. There is worship and a talk and then we head to the church lounge for some time to think through what we’ve heard and chat about how it applies to our lives.
Friday Night Youth meets from 7.30-9pm. We are usually in the church building. There’s a pool table, table tennis, tabletop games, big games(hockey, chair football etc), quiet spaces, music, snacks & some time to contemplate some big questions of life. This is a really accessible space if you love Jesus, are curious about the Christian faith or simply want somewhere to be with some great people!
Other things we do on Friday Nights…
About twice a term we have youth band practice before Friday Night Youth, where we learn some worship songs together. We hope in time to play in some church services. About twice a term we have socials like bowling, walks, wide games, BBQs etc. Once a term we join in with the local Youth Catalyst Project – see below for details.
The Hub is for anyone in Y10-Y13 who wants to explore their faith a little deeper. We meet in homes on Mondays from xx. We spend time together and with God. These sessions are usually run by the young people and always involve food in some way.
The Youth Team
The Youth Team is led by Liz Featherstone and about 10 volunteers. All staff and volunteers are recruited in line with our safeguarding policy and as part of this have been DBS checked and undergone relevant safeguarding training.

We partner with Bookham Youth Project (BYP). They run drop-in youth sessions at St Nicolas Pastoral Centre 4-6.15pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On a Monday they extend their session until 8pm, to include food and explore/connect. They also run events and trips away. To find out more, visit their website HERE.

FISH is run by the local youth workers at The Howard of Effingham school on a Wednesday lunchtime. There’s plenty of time to chat, eat lunch together, eat a few more biscuits and find out a little more about the Christian faith in a very relaxed way. All students welcome.
